There is a roof leak black mold in my apartment, but the owner is brushing me. What should I do now?
Six months ago, there was a leak on the roof of my apartment and destroyed the wall beside the door. The landlords 'fixed' the sewers, but never made the repairs to the wall. Now second loss was incurred in the bedroom. I wrote them a letter notifying them to fix the damage as soon as possible, but have done nothing so far. I know there black mold a horrible problem in this building because I have been struggling for two years. It grows on the walls in the bathroom, and window seals. I try to use bleach and other solutions as well as a dehumidifier, but it always seems to come back. I know there must be significant mold inside the wall, since it seems to be orange spots everywhere. My landlord has denied that this is the mold after looking at the picture I sent them. In addition to looking for another place to live, what should I do? Should I call the home inspection of the city to go out and investigate? I feel as if she had more than enough time to solve this problem.
From the sound the same as it has done what any sensible person, would be prudent. It is time to step up activity such as visiting a lawyer, Citizens Advice Bureau or consumer Institute (assuming bthese are in your country / city). Set within the owners, for example 2 weeks to begin the repair you want or take action legal proceedings against them.
