As the number of real estate owned (REO) properties rises, the relationship between exclusion and mold is growing.
Mold infestation in the bank owned empty homes is a serious problem throughout the country. The recent housing collapse has led to a growing number of moldly, abandoned homes REO. Water, sewage and flooding problems often go untreated when owners are absent. In the case of natural disasters, vacant homes in humid areas can quickly become infested with mold. Even homes that are vacant for long periods simply are susceptible.
Any mold, but especially black mold, can scare away buyers and drive down the price of buildings. If the mold damage is severe, may require large remediation efforts to make the house habitable again. This often requires the work of contractors professional mold removal.
