Attempt to get rid of mold/mildew in bathroom?
I am going to attept to get rid of the black and red stuff growing on the walls and ceiling of my bathroom. The paint is peeling, do I sand first or spray with bleach first to kill whatever it is? I will use kilz next, and then wait a few weeks to paint.
We will be replacing everything when we redo the bathroom, but for now it is gross looking.
we used a bleach water solution 50/50, spray the area, let it dry, go to real paint store not frickin’ home depot, they can put additive in kilz product, it is mold mildew preventative. when area dries paint with kilz, let that dry, paint with finish coat with mold mildew preventative added. may need 2 coats. enjoy your freshly painted bathroom. DO NOT SAND,as that may make you sick. besides if you sand too much you will be forced to replace what you took off, sheetrock mud is not fun to play with if you are not very experienced.
