black mold in the attic?
My husband and I have a signed contract for a great house we love. During the inspection, it was discovered that he had black mold in the attic. The owner agreed that recovery, but I'm still concerned. Do you have a remedy, along with the installation of vents the soffit, and the bathroom vent out into the street, fix the problem indefinitely? In addition, it says in the working paper that the company will encapsulate the mold. I read that this is not really a good way. Anyone have any experience or advice?
The black mold that has something to worry about. In general, comes from the moisture that is trapped in a confined area. It should be treated and "killed" or they will reappear. I would recommend that the inspection has been redone in that area before signing the final papers for the house. This allows you to have some recourse if there is a major problem since you will repair and re-inspection on their side. As for the repairs mentioned concerns going in the right direction. Remediation work on the problem. I can not believe entered the bathroom vent in the attic. The amount of moisture in the air of a bathroom during the shower is amazing. This alone is probably the source of the problem. The addition of soffit vents add another way to help remove moisture, but only if properly installed. (The second inspection should check for this.)
