Question black mold.?
My wife and I bought a house less than a month. Fishin have a basement with tiled floors. We spent the last 2 full months looking at this home, agonizing over a decision and ultimately purchase. An inspector came and gave us a good inspection. When we got home the other day There were a couple of 1 / 2 inch tall, brown / black growths (stalagmites seem very small) on the tile next to the baseboards in the finished basement. My father believes they are black mold. Is there a way to try before they get a mold inspection? I am skeptical because I've never seen mold grow taller in a flat open. I that usually extends over a flat surface. The home inspector found some moisture in the finished basement, but said that was not enough for alarm by. It did rain heavily while they were gone, and I am in the process of installing a French drain to solve the drainage problem. Anyone have a problem similar? Any professional counseling? HELP!
It does not sound as dangerous mold. You can buy a test kit from any hardware store, $ 30; test yourself.
