Is there a way to prevent mold in a wet basement?
My room in the basement of the family had a small flood of last week because the drainspout on my roof had fallen. I used a wet-vac for standing water and have been the use of fans and a dehumidifier to dry the remaining moisture. I'm worried because the room was remodeled last year. We used a drywall moisture resistant, treated wood, and thin (without battery) carpet tiles with a rubber bottom, so we were prepared for some moisture. Although it seems to dry thoroughly, I'm worried about mold, mildew, and "Wet basement smell." Are there tricks to get as fast drying, or any product that prohibit the growth of mold? I am pregnant so anything with toxic fumes or would not work for me.
Just keep a dehumidifier or two to fall to regulate the humidity.
