Toxic Mold Prevention

Toxic Black Mold – What You Should Know

Have you noticed how often toxic black mold has been mentioned in the headlines recently? From fairly significant number of people still are not fully aware of its dangers, perhaps this article may change the perception that somehow.

There are many types of mold that we are at home and outdoors but, although not all are toxic, some are clear. Worse, it seems that Some molds are capable of spreading the toxins, but not necessarily do so. (Without too much trouble, I could make a plausible comparison with living under a volcano stayed here.)

The term toxic mold is specifically used to describe a kind of mold that produces mycotoxins, the most famous of which is the scientific name Stachybotrys chartarum (also known as Stachybotrys atra). The mold poison is green-black in color, so it is often referred to as "black mold" or "toxic black mold."

It is very unhealthy for any person to come into contact with toxic black mold, but certain groups of people are more susceptible to its effects than others, particularly

* Children (under 12 years, particularly infants)

* Pregnant

* Older people (usually over 65)

* People with weakened immune systems, allergies, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or allergic

The form more dangerous than exposure to this kind of breathing mold spores. When disturbed, it will release countless tiny spores, lightweight in the air, waiting to be swallowed. Since the disturbance can occur in several ways, often without anyone knowing, for example during cleaning or home repairs, is very alarming to realize how easy that these spores can be ingested.

Migraine headaches, nosebleeds, memory loss, asthma, breathing difficulties, food allergies, fungal infections, nose and throat irritation are among the many symptoms that can be displayed by those who have been exposed to spores harmful in the air.

Common sense dictates that you must stop the growth of mold or they will be exposed to it. To prevent mold growth of any kind, you need to control the humidity in and around your home. If you keep the interior relative humidity below 60% threshold, then you are well on the way to prevent the appearance of toxic mold because it does not thrive in an environment that contains less than 60% humidity.

Therefore, first of all, it is necessary to assess the level humidity inside your home. You could use an inexpensive hygrometer (also known as relative humidity sensor or humidity meter) to do this. Once you have determined you need to correct moisture level, there are some simple steps you can take to try to reduce it below the threshold of 60%, for example:

* Ensure that there is adequate ventilation, especially in smaller areas like the bathroom and kitchen. If necessary, install an exhaust fan in the bathroom quality and the bell of an effective range in the kitchen, and keep them in good working order, for example, where appropriate, change the batteries regularly, do not allow to accumulate powder and block the flow of air and change the filters regularly.

* Watch for condensation and that this is a sure sign of high humidity. Check your windows, walls or pipes and, if you see one, dry the areas of water immediately. Any delay increases the chances of mold. And be sure to determine and fix the source of condensation.

If you allow the mold, especially toxic black mold to infest your home, you have bought a massive problem. However, I am sure do not let that happen when you think about the potential health consequences for his family, the probable decrease in the value of your home and financial burden to withdraw the mold and restore your home to its former glory.
